A new start date for Gymnastics NT

Gymnastics to recommence 15 May 2020

The Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture have announced a correction to the start date of gymnastics facilities.

Following Phase 2 restrictions, gymnastics clubs in the NT will be able resume operations on Friday 15 May 2020, rather than the first announced 5 June 2020.

Gymnastics NT will continue to work with the NT Government and Department of Health to ensure that our clubs are equipped with the best information and resources as they prepare to begin classes again.

Clubs that are able to maintain the 1.5 metres of physical distance, 4 square metres per person, and maintain all necessary hygiene practises will be able to resume operations on May 15.

Gymnastics NT Executive Director Jayde Martin notes that while there is work to be done, NT clubs are already preparing for the May 15 start date.

“The prospect of our gymnastics clubs opening two weeks prior to our initial date is exciting news for gymnastics in the Northern Territory. While we know that complete operations will not happen overnight, we stand by clubs as they navigate the new requirements and adapt programs to best cater to their members.

Gymnastics NT will continue to support our clubs as they deliver the highest level of hygiene practises within their facilities and adapt their programs to meet new distancing requirements.”

The operations of individual clubs may vary. Please speak with your club for more information.

The Phase two restrictions will be in place until June 5.
