Gymnastics remains popular amongst NT families
Gymnastics remains a staple after school activity, with recent data revealing that gymnastics was the 2nd most requested sport in the Northern Territory Government’s Sport Voucher Scheme for 2019-2020.
Since the beginning of the Sport Voucher Scheme Northern Territory families have redeemed 223,386 vouchers in urban areas. $32,164,032 has been distributed to registered providers and 1,007 programs have been run by registered service providers in remote communities.
Through the scheme, NT gymnastics families have saved over $300,000 by electing their local club.
Executive Director Jayde Martin loves how the Sports Voucher helps connect communities.
“The Sports Vouchers have been fantastic for our clubs and community. Children that may never have had the opportunity to flip on the floor or balance of the beam are able to enjoy gymnastics. With many families redeeming the voucher more than once for gymnastics, it is clear gymnasts value their experience beyond their first few week,” said Ms Martin.
