Gymnastics Australia understands that a high performance culture involves an athlete finding the right balance between physical and mental wellbeing, engagement in activities outside their training and the requirements of elite sport.
Gymnastics Australia is developing an Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement framework in collaboration with the AIS, with a focus on the holistic wellbeing of the gymnast.
This framework will include education and resources to support the health, safety and wellbeing of all athletes, inside the gym and life outside the gym.
Gymnastics Australia recognises the importance of the support network around the gymnast and how influential they can be. GA also acknowledges that this can be a challenging role and position for the people within the athletes network, with so much commitment and investment made and all the ups and downs also experienced by these key people.
The below resources will assist with understanding the role of the support person and some tips on how to manage the relationship between the athlete and support team.
